OCSI Scholarship: Perks, Eligibility Criteria & How to Apply

 Are you considering studying abroad but wondering about the course fees? Know about the OCSI scholarship and how it can help you study at the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge if you’re planning to take up courses there.

The Oxford and Cambridge Society of India (OCSI) Scholarships are given for undergraduate, post graduate and research courses in any subject/ course or field of study available at the Universities of Cambridge and the University of Oxford, UK. It is a part-cost scholarship offered to Indian students wishing to study abroad and aids them financially as well as academically. The selection of this scholarship is based on the academic excellence of the candidate.

OCSI Scholarship: About the awards

  • There is no discrimination in the OCSI scholarship selection process on the basis of race, colour, age, sex or ancestry. It is an equal and fair opportunity provided to all.
  • 3 separate OCSI scholarships scholarships, each worth INR 200,000 are awarded each year to Indian students enrolled at either the University of Cambridge or the University of Oxford, UK. These are:
  1. OCSI K.K. Luthra Memorial Scholarship
  2. OCSI Anita Banerji Memorial Scholarship
  3. OCSI Nirmal Luthra Memorial Scholarship
  • One scholarship worth INR 100,000 is only awarded to a student from Emmanuel College, University of Cambridge. This award is given by the Emmanuel College Cambridge (India) Trust.
  • One scholarship worth INR 100,000 is only awarded to students wanting to study at St. Hilda’s College, Oxford
  • Students who win the scholarships also receive complimentary life membership of the Oxford and Cambridge Society of India
  • A letter of support from OCSI for other scholarship-awarding bodies is also furnished
  • On request, a member of OCSI may also play the role of a mentor and provide guidance to the awardee if needed.

OCSI Scholarship: Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the OCSI scholarship, the candidate must note the following eligibility criteria:

  • Candidate must be a citizen of India
  • He or she must be not more than 30 years of age on 1 September of the year of application for the award
  • If applying to a second undergraduate or a postgraduate course, then the candidate must have graduated from an Indian university. For undergraduate degrees, they must have passed out from a recognised school in India.
  • The candidate must secure admission to a full-time course at the University of Cambridge or the University of Oxford.
  • Also, the applicants are required to submit proof of admission before being granted scholarship, and provide proof of residence at Cambridge or Oxford before the scholarship funds are released.

Candidates must follow the usual admission procedure of the concerned University. They should also note that the OCSI will not take any responsibility for assisting students' admission. Also, relatives of the Executive Committee of the Oxford and Cambridge Society of India are not eligible for these scholarships.

OCSI Scholarship Parameters:

The scholarship is awarded to a candidate based on three factors which are:

  1. Soft Skills: Good presentation skills, should possess a vision and clarity of thought and be confident
  2. Hard Skills: high academic performance, must have engaged in extracurricular activities, and a unique proposition in the field of study or social work
  3. Financial Resource: Candidates might be asked to provide the details of resources available to them along with supporting documents.

Application Process:

Here’s a look at a few important points to note for the application process for the OCSI Scholarship.

  • Students will be required to possess an offer letter from the University of Oxford or Cambridge or any other affiliated colleges.
  • The application form for the OCSI scholarships is available from March every year on the official website.
  • The applications must be completed and should reach the Oxford and Cambridge Society of India as early as possible.
  • Candidates shortlisted will be required to attend an interview with the OCSI scholarship committee. Details of the interviews are shared in due course.
  • Scholarship awards are usually awarded to the selected candidates by the end of July.

Nehru Fellowship 2023: Applications are open till 27 September 2022

 For young, liberal-minded Indians, the Nehru Fellowship in Politics and Elections provides a rare chance to understand politics and elections in India. Campaigns, research, political strategy, and communications are just a few of the areas that the Fellowship intends to expose participants to in a way that is both unprecedented and practical. The Fellows might also get the chance to work in an election war room or in a senior politician's office.

The Fellowship will give Fellows the opportunity to build multidisciplinary expertise on a range of topics and industries that have an impact on societal development and the economy.

A 12-month, full-time program, the Fellowship will be situated in Hyderabad. The Fellows will be required to visit additional places as needed. Fellows will be paid a stipend of Rs. 75,000 per month.

Over the course of a year, fellows will work in a variety of departments inside a political consulting firm, such as campaigns, research, political strategy, and communications, to get practical experience.

An initial two-week training course will precede the Fellowship. Following training, fellows will work in three distinct capacities for six months (two months per function). Afterward, Fellows will spend the following six months specializing in one functional area of their choice. Fellows would have mastered the critical skills necessary to conceptualize, implement, and manage an election campaign at the end of the Fellowship, as well as a deeper understanding of how a political party handles elections.

Nehru Fellowship 2023: Eligibility Criteria

The Fellowship's main objective is to give young Indians a platform to get involved in the planning and running of electoral campaigns.

The following eligibility requirements should be met by applicants:

  • Must possess a bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Must be younger than 30 years old (born after 03.09.1993 ).
  • Must be a citizen of India.

Nehru Fellowship 2023: Selection Process

A two-stage evaluation procedure will be used to select Fellows.

Applicants will be shortlisted in the first round based on the data they supplied in their applications. A candidate's resume, employment history, and statement of purpose will all be taken into account.

The candidates that made the second round will be contacted for a video or in-person interview.

On the basis of the interview performance, final decisions will be made.

Teachers' Day 2022: UGC To Launch New Research Grants & Fellowship Schemes

 The University Grants Commission is set to launch three new research grants and two fellowship schemes today on the occasion of Teachers Day 2022. The event will begin at 3 pm today and it will be telecasted live on the official Twitter and YouTube channels of UGC. According to the official information, there are 100 available slots for this fellowship, and selected candidates will get Rs 50,000 per month and Rs 50,000 per year as a contingency. 

UGC fellowship schemes: Know Eligibility Criteria

Only candidates under the age of 67 are eligible for the aforementioned scheme. Also, candidates must have successfully supervised the Ph.D. dissertations of ten full-time candidates, three of whom graduated during the previous ten years. The candidate must have prior experience handling the post of principal investigator on at least three sponsored research projects financed by national or international agencies. In addition, candidates should not carry any administrative responsibilities throughout the fellowship, which begins on the day of superannuation.

Savitribai Jyotirao Phule Fellowship for a Single Girl Child

  • The aim of this fellowship is to provide the right education to single girl children and encourage them to pursue research work leading to the award of a Ph.D. degree. There is no fixed age limit on this fellowship. This fellowship has a total tenure of five years.

Dr. Radhakrishnan UGC Post-Doctoral Fellowship

  • This fellowship will provide opportunities to as many as 900 candidates to carry out advanced studies and research in sciences, engineering and technology, humanities, and social sciences, including languages, in Indian universities and institutions. Notably, 30% of seats are reserved for female candidates. Selected candidates will be given Rs 50,000 per month as part of the fellowship and Rs 50,000 per annum as a contingency.

Fellowship for Superannuated Faculty Members

  • This fellowship will provide research opportunities to retired teachers. A total of 100 slots are available within this fellowship, and the selected candidates will be given Rs 50,000 per month as part of the fellowship, with Rs 50,000 per annum as a contingency.

Research Grant for In-Service Faculty Members

  • This fellowship will provide research opportunities to regularly appointed faculty members. A total of 200 candidates will receive Rs 10 lakh for a two-year period.

Dr DS Kothari Research Grant for Newly Recruited Faculty Members 

  • This fellowship seeks to offer research opportunities to regularly appointed faculty members. As per the official information, the quantum of support under the scheme is Rs 10 lakh, which will be provided to 132 selected candidates for a tenure of two years.

Study in UK: Application process begins for Chevening scholarships, fellowships; check details

 

The Chevening Fellowships on offer this year are: Chevening India Cyber Security Fellowship; Chevening Research, Science, and Innovation Leadership Fellowship; Chevening Gurukul Fellowship for Leadership and Excellence; South Asia Journalism Fellowship.

The application window for the UK government’s flagship Chevening scholarship and fellowship programme is open. The programme offers full financial support for a one-year master’s at any UK university and for 8-12 week professional development courses, respectively.

Chevening scholarships include tuition, living expenses and travel cost for a one-year master’s. The last date to apply is November 1, 2022 while for the Chevening fellowship programme, the deadline ends on October 12, 2022.

The Chevening programme in India, as per the British High Commission, is the largest in the world, benefiting over 3,500 scholars and fellows since 1983. The number of awards on offer in India has further increased with the Adani Group co-sponsoring 15 additional scholarships in artificial intelligence over three years.

The Chevening fellowships on offer this year are: Chevening India Cyber Security Fellowship; Chevening Research, Science, and Innovation Leadership Fellowship; Chevening Gurukul Fellowship for Leadership and Excellence; South Asia Journalism Fellowship.

Chevening alumni in India include Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Anupriya Patel, Global CEO for Tata Steel TV Narendran, and the former Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu Girija Vaidyanathan.

InterGlobe Foundation introduces HERITAGE Fellowships

 New Delhi:  InterGlobe Foundation (IGF), the philanthropic arm of InterGlobe Enterprises, launched InterGlobe HERITAGE Fellowships today. Through these fellowships, the InterGlobe Foundation aspires to encourage a community of researchers, journalists, architects, and other individuals to bring previously undocumented aspects of Indian culture to light and help raise awareness of our heritage.

Since 2014, InterGlobe Foundation has impacted thousands of lives by partnering with the best NGOs. Some of the heritage restoration projects include the scoping, conservation and cultural revival of Abdur Rahim Khan-I-Khanan’s Mausoleum in Delhi; cultural mapping and documentation of ten Indian cities; the restoration of stepwell “Indra Kund” in Delwara; and research on Qutub Shah Mausoleum in Hyderabad and Lal Bagh Palace in Indore. The InterGlobe HERITAGE Fellowships are a step to further strengthen the foundation’s heritage conservation work.

These fellowships are available to students and faculty of liberal arts, researchers, journalists, architects, and freelancers. The work done during this program will help bring forth innovative ideas for the restoration of heritage landmarks and will be judged by an esteemed jury comprising of Swapna Liddle (Historian), Ratish Nanda (Conservation Architect, CEO (India), Aga Khan Trust for Culture), Vaibhav Chauhan (CEO, Cultre) and Rohini Bhatia (Chairperson, InterGlobe Foundation).

The Fellowships will focus on presenting a comprehensive vision for the preservation of lesser-known facets of Indian heritage, communities, and practices. It will encourage fresh perspectives on India’s heritage, amplify local voices and conditions to help understand heritage-driven development, and explain how community development initiatives and tangible and intangible heritage in a certain area are interconnected.

Teach For India Fellowship Programme 2023: Applications are open

 Teach For India has opened the application window to apply for their two-year-long paid Fellowship Programme. The Fellowship entails two years of full-time teaching at schools for underprivileged children across eight Indian cities. The fellowship is open to both graduates and working professionals in India. The eight Indian cities are as follows: Delhi, Pune, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, Chennai and Ahmedabad. Those who are selected for fellowships will receive training in the form of a residential workshop and "community engagement", before they are assigned to a school in one of these cities.

The Teach For India Fellowship application happens in four different rounds. Candidates can apply only once in any particular round. For the 2023 cohort, the dates for the four rounds are as follows:

  • The first round of applications will be accepted up to 18 September 2022 (results will be announced on 28 September 2022)
  • The second round's last date is 20 November 2022 (results will be released on 30 November 2022)
  • The third round of applicants can send in their forms till 29 January 2023 (results will be released on 8 February 2023)
  • The fourth round will conclude on 19 March 2023. (results will be released on 29 March 2023)

For each round, applications must be received by 11:59 PM IST on the specified due dates. On the indicated result dates, the application decision and any necessary next actions will be conveyed by email to the successful candidates.

To be eligible to apply for the fellowship, the applicants must be an Indian Citizen or an Overseas Citizen of India and must have either graduated or be graduating with a Bachelor's degree, latest by June/July 2023. Furthermore, this must be their first application to the Teach For India Fellowship 2023 cohort. Applicants would get a monthly salary of Rs 21,943 in addition to a housing allowance.

UK Offers 75 Fully-Funded Scholarships For Indian Students On The Occasion Of India’s 75th Anniversary Of Independence

 New Delhi: In celebration of India’s 75th anniversary of independence, the UK government has partnered with leading businesses in India to offer 75 fully-funded scholarships for Indian students to study in Britain from September. In a statement, the British High Commission (BHC) said, this is the highest number of fully-funded scholarships given for the one-year master’s programme to date.

Companies like HSBC, Pearson India, Hindustan Unilever, Tata Sons and Duolingo are supporting this special initiative to celebrate India’s 75th year of independence, the high commission said.

The programmes on offer include Chevening scholarships for a one-year master’s programme, with the opportunity to study any subject at any recognised UK university. Further to this, the British Council in India is offering at least 18 scholarships for women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) covering over 12,000 courses across more than 150 UK universities.

Along with these, the British Council is also offering six English scholarships.

The announcement comes as British and Indian leaders from international business and government gather in London for the India Global Forum.

In India’s 75th year, this is a great milestone together, Alex Ellis, the British High Commissioner to India, told the India Global Forum’s UK-India Week in London.

Sewa International Unveils Its Sewa Fellowship Programme: Calling Young Individuals To Serve Bharat

 New Delhi : Aiming to create a progressive long-term impact in India, Sewa International a global non-profit organization, launches Sewa Fellowship to support individuals, societal leaders, and organizations aligned with the philosophy of serving India. The fellowship programme is an opportunity for young and dynamic individuals to bring positive changes at the grassroots level for nation-building.

The fellowship launch hosted at India International Centre, New Delhi, was attended by dignitaries who have pioneered in exploring new methods and exemplified processes for serving communities including, Shri Shyam Parande (the General Secretary of Sewa International), Dr. R Balasubramaniam (Member at Capacity Building Commission), Phoolbasan Bai (Renowned Social worker and Padma Shri Awardee), Dr. Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar (Chairman at University Grants Commission), Gauranga Das (Divisional Director at ISKCON), Venkatesh Murthy (Founder and Chief Mentor at Youth for Seva), Ambassador Virendra Gupta (Former IFS) , Dr. Ram Kakani (Director at IIM Raipur), and Prof. Ajay Dubey from JNU and other renowned leaders from different walks of life.

Inviting applications from across India, the fellowship has a three-stage selection process. The first stage includes sharing the application with an essay writing or video-based essay defining the statement of purpose. The second stage will assess the candidate’s problem solving approach, and curiosity and humility through field assignments and personal conversation. The final selection is based on the individual’s behaviour/psychometric analysis, collaborative working attitude, and rigour for community work.

The 23-month immersive programme encompasses an extensive curriculum with a core emphasis on imparting knowledge, skills, and temperament training. It includes project management, research and development, monitoring and evaluation of live projects, and learning best practices to create an impact on society. The fellows will also be trained in skills such as critical thinking, systems thinking, eco-centered design, storytelling, leadership, sewa bhaav, communication, and fundraising, etc.

Shri Shyam Parande Ji, General Secretary, Sewa International, said, “We are delighted to celebrate Sewa International’s 25th Anniversary. In the initial 12 years, Sewa International worked with other institutions and later started its initiatives for the upliftment of society. He reiterated Swami Vivekananda’s message that a few heart-whole, sincere, and energetic men and women can do more in a year than a mob in a century. The world needs more young leaders to solve future problems. In his words, now is the time that young men and women must come forward and take the challenges of contemporary India and contribute to make India a global power. Banaras Hindu University invites applications for ‘Malviya postdoctoral fellowships’

 

The age of a candidate applying for the fellowship should be preferably less than 35 years as of June 17, 2022. Details of the fellowship are available on the BHU website - bhu.ac.in.


Banaras Hindu University is inviting applications from Indian Nationals, Foreign Nationals, PIO & OCI, for ‘Malaviya Postdoctoral Fellowships’. Candidates who have obtained their Ph.D. from the top 500 Institutions of the world and a very good academic record or having postdoctoral experience of two years from the top 500 institutions, based on THE or Q-S ranking, shall be eligible to apply. 

The age of a candidate applying for the fellowship should be preferably less than 35 years as of June 17, 2022. Details of the fellowship are available on the BHU website – bhu.ac.in. The last date of submitting applications is June 17, 2022.

The fellowship is for two years and is extendable to another one year based on favourable evaluation. As part of the Fellowship, a candidate will receive Rs 1 lakh per month, with an additional annual research grant of Rs 3 lakh.

The scheme was launched under the ‘Institution of Eminence’ status granted to the university by the Government of India. There are up to 100 positions in all disciplines of Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities and other professional disciplines.

Silicon Valley-Based Entrepreneur, Venture Capitalist And Philanthropist Asha Jadeja Announces Rajeev Circle History Scholars Program

 New Delhi  – Silicon Valley-based entrepreneur, venture capitalist and philanthropist, Asha Jadeja has launched a unique program called the Rajeev Circle History Scholars (RCS) Program. The program seeks to publish high quality, well-researched and accessible popular books on Indian history each year through the grant of a coveted Fellowship awarded to eligible scholars. Rajeev Circle History Scholars (RCS) Program has been constituted in memory of Asha’s late husband Rajeev Motwani. Rajeev and Asha have invested in over 200 technology startups in Silicon Valley.

The Rajeev Circle History Scholars (RCS) Program aims to foster scholarship and produce knowledge in the field of Indian historiography that is Indic in its outlook rather than the hitherto colonial or ideologically driven narrative.

The scholars who will be supported by the RCS program are Prof. V.N. Prabhakar (RCS Senior Fellow) and Dr. Ankur Kakkar, Dr. Sreejit Datta, Mr. Aravindan Neelakandan, Mr. Aneesh Gokhale, Mr. Aabhas Maldahiyar (RCS Fellows).

Announcing the program, Asha Jadeja said, “In the decades after Independence, Indian historiography has suffered from several drawbacks, many rooted in “history written by victors”, colonial narratives that have warped the portrayal of actual events to fit a grandiosity of dying imperialism. There is an urgent need for serious scholarship that revisits these aspects of our past in a modern, contemporary context. And the Motwani Jadeja Foundation is proud to announce the Rajeev Circle History Scholars (RCS) Program to support scholars in this area. ”

The RCS program is led by author and historian Dr. Vikram Sampath. Dr. Sampath is a Bangalore based historian and author of six acclaimed books. He has a Doctorate in history and music from the University of Queensland, Australia and was a Senior Research Fellow at the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, New Delhi. He has established the Archive of Indian Music, India’s first digital sound archive for vintage recordings, is the Founder-­Director of the Bangalore Literature Festival, Indic Thoughts Festival and ‘ARTH-­‐ A Culture Fest’.

Programs like the Rajeev Circle History Scholars (RCS) and Rajeev Circle Fellowships (RCF) is an ongoing effort by Asha Jadeja and the Motwani Jadeja Foundation to contribute toward the growth of intellectual and entrepreneurial capital of India to augment India’s future through positive action for greater and exponential impact. ‘Social Scholarship’ worth £5000 announced for Indian students

 

The scholarship is open to all Indian students pursuing undergraduate degree, post-graduate degree or diploma with NTU.

To encourage students to do good deeds, University Living, in association with Nottingham Trent University, UK, have introduced a scholarship for students of Indian citizenship who have contributed in some way or form to better society, the environment, or people’s lives around them.

This scholarship will not be based on the academic performances of the students, and the candidate will purely be assessed on the basis of social impact their project has had in the society in the past few years.

‘Social scholarship’: How to apply

Step 1: Visit the official website of University Living — universityliving.com

Step 2: On the homepage, click on the ‘scholarship’ tab.

Step 3: Scroll down to fill the required details in the given form to apply.

Step 4: Record a video showcasing your social impact.

Step 5: Upload that video on Instagram as a post and tag ‘Nottingham Trent University’ and ‘University Living’.

The ‘social scholarship’ is available only for students who are Indian citizens and are applying to Nottingham Trent University, UK. It is applicable for the September 2022 / Fall intake. It is open to all Indian students pursuing undergraduate degree, post-graduate degree or diploma with NTU. However, the candidate should have an offer of a place on an eligible full-time course with NTU.

“It is further clarified that the scale of the impact or the number of people will not be the deciding factor for awarding of the scholarship,” the terms and conditions state.

Deakin University announces Rs 30 million worth of Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarships for Indian students

 Deakin University, Australia, has announced its Vice-Chancellor’s Meritorious Scholarship program 2022, which offers a 100 per cent tuition fee waiver to four high-achieving Indian students for the full duration of their studies at the University at either undergraduate or postgraduate level.

Applications for the scholarship are open for students applying in the July intake this year.

The announcement comes as part of Deakin University’s initiative ‘Changing Lives’, which recognises deserving students with consistently high academic performance, who have potential to make a leading contribution to the University and their community in India.

Deakin has 28 years of engagement in India fostering collaborations across education and research, and launched this initiative in 2014 to support talented and dedicated students it has awarded 35 scholarships to date.Professor Iain Martin, Vice-Chancellor of Deakin University said that Deakin was committed to supporting Indian students who had aspirations to pursue a high-quality international education.

“Over almost three decades, Deakin’s relationship with India has been a very successful one, achieving great outcomes for Indian students and their communities. This is a priority for us – helping students gain the skills that will make a real difference to their communities in India.“And we gain so much in return; our international students make wonderful contributions to the life of our University, and beyond graduation they join our thriving global alumni community.”

The selection for the Deakin Vice-Chancellor’s Meritorious Scholarship Program is a rigorous process consisting of application review, referee recommendations and interviews/presentations, including a panel interview with neutral representatives from academia and industry.  

Hritish Kakati, a Vice-Chancellor’s Meritorious Scholar in 2021, said, “I feel extremely privileged to have won the Deakin University Vice-Chancellor’s Meritorious 100 per cent scholarship last year.”

“Being a Vice-Chancellor’s scholar gave me the opportunity to be part of the Vice Chancellor’s Professional Excellence Program (VCPEP), wherein I can meet and interact with achievers from all over the world.”

Deakin University also offers other academic merit-based bursaries and scholarships for Indian students that include a 25 per cent Merit Scholarship and a 20 per cent Bursary for studies onshore in Australia.

BHU LAUNCHES SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

 Banaras Hindu University, an Institution of Eminence under the IoE initiative of the Education Ministry, Government of India, has introduced a new scholarship scheme to promote and motivate international students. The scheme “Scholarship to International Students”, also aims at attracting overseas students through this programme. Under the programme, foreign students will receive Rs. 6000 per month which will be renewed annually on the basis of satisfactory performance. In case a student is already getting a scholarship of lower value, he/she will be entitled to receive the difference. The decision to launch “Scholarship to International Students” was taken in the meeting of Governing Body of Institution of Eminence, BHU, under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sudhir K Jain.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sudhir K Jain has said that getting BHU among the top universities of the world is what university fraternity must strive for. This scholarship programme is one of the several steps taken with an aim to realize this goal.  The university has constituted a three member committee for smooth implementation and monitoring of the scheme. All the applications under the scheme shall be submitted to the Institution of Eminence Cell of BHU.

Situated in the ancient city of Varanasi, which has been a symbol of knowledge, education and culture for centuries, Banaras Hindu University has a unique distinction of offering a vast range of programmes pertaining to all branches of humanities, social sciences, medicine, technology, science, fine arts and performing arts, hence, making it truly the Capital of Knowledge. The university attracts hundreds of international students every year who take admission in various disciplines of Agricultural Sciences, Arts, Social Sciences, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Law, Commerce and Sciences in undergraduate, postgraduate, Ph.D. and Diploma courses. The total intake of foreign students is upto 15% of the total seats. These seats are of supernumerary nature. Currently 431 students from nearly 40 countries are enrolled in Banaras Hindu University. These include 261 male and 170 female students from United States, Brazil, France, Russia, Ireland, Australia, Yemen, Iran, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Thailand, Myanmar and Cambodia among others. The scheme is expected to draw more international students to BHU. Besides, it is also in the spirit of National Education Policy 2020 which puts a greater focus on internationalization of the Indian Education System, by way of having more students from abroad in Indian campuses.

British Council Offers PG Scholarships To Indian Students And Educators For 2022-23

 British Council, the UK’s international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations, announced new set of postgraduate scholarships for Indians across various fields of study, for the academic year 2022-23.

GREAT Scholarships

British Council, in collaboration with the UK government’s GREAT Britain Campaign and in partnership with UK universities, announced 20 GREAT scholarships for students from India, across 16 UK universities, in a variety of subjects like Business, Finance, Humanities, Psychology Entrepreneurship, Design, Marketing, HR, Music and many more. In addition to this, there are 7 GREAT Scholarships for Justice and Law, for students from India who want to apply for courses in subjects including human rights, criminal justice and commercial law, at one of 7 of the oldest and most prestigious law schools in the world.

Each scholarship is worth a minimum of £10,000, meant towards the tuition fees for a one-year postgraduate course. The GREAT Scholarships offer students from India the opportunity to undertake some of the most popular postgraduate programmes in the world, from autumn 2022. The scholarships aim to provide Indian students with wider access to an education in the UK, by building on the strong links between the two nations.

Today, British Council also announced 6 fully funded scholarships for English teachers from India to study at 2 of the best UK universities for postgraduate study of English language teaching. This opportunity is open to English teachers working in or with the primary or secondary government schools in India. The scholarship will enable learners to understand the use of technology to enhance learning in the classrooms.

Out of the 6 scholarships, 3 are being offered for a face-to-face/full time MA programme at the University of Leeds. The other 3 scholarships are for the online/part time MSc programme offered by the University of Stirling, which will include a two-week fully-funded residential visit to the university as part of the programme.
